Ms. Tong has performed as a soloist both as a violinist and pianist with the Toronto Philharmonia, the Waterloo Chamber Orchestra, Cathedral Bluffs Symphony, and the Oshawa-Durham Symphony on multiple occasions, and has appeared frequently in nationally broadcasted radio performances on CBC, WAMC and WVIA public radio across Canada and the US. A recent pupil and assistant to Pamela Frank, Ms. Tong has also worked with Kathleen Winkler, Donald Weilerstein and Zhang Yun Zhang. A native of Toronto, Canada, Ms. Tong first began her musical studies on the piano at the age of 3, and then discovered the violin two years later. In the rare moments when she is away from her instrument, Ms. Tong enjoys pursuing her love of languages, running and discovering new cheeses to indulge in. |
A recipient of the prestigious Canada Council for the Arts Grant for Professional Musicians, violinist Jessica Tong has performed internationally as a soloist, recitalist and chamber musician. A top prizewinner at the 2009 Eckhardt-Gramatte Competition, she was also the grand prizewinner of the Toronto Symphony and Canadian Music Competitions and the recipient of the David Ouchterlony Award.
